When planning your engagement photos you may just think all you need to do is turn up and smile. But if you want to take your photos to the next level & ensure a beautiful collection of images to remember this special time by, consider these tips!

Have a theme
Themes don't need to be cheesy, but having a common thread that ties all your photos together will create a gorgeous set of images that will work well framed on the wall together.
The theme for this shoot was an "autumn picnic" - so simple & beautiful!

have Props
Using props is a great way to ease those nerves about how to pose or what to do with your hands.
Here we used hot chocolate, cake & prosecco in our picnic set up to create moments where Kerrie & Rob were able to interact naturally with each other. How cute is that shot of Kerrie feeding Rob?!

Styling
Probably the most important part of putting your shoot together is what you're going to wear. Keep your theme in mind as you choose your outfits. Here we went for a cosy vibe so knitwear layered over a flowy, ruffled dress & a warm but smart coat for Rob. The autumnal colours all complement each other & tie in with the colours of the leaves. You don't need to be matchy matchy but a good way to make sure your outfits look good together is to lay them out on the floor or bed next to each other. You can always send photos of options to your photographer to check it'll all photograph well, we're here to help!
If you can get your hair & make up professionally done that's a big bonus. The pros know what photographs well & it'll ensure everything stays in place for the duration of the shoot. People are often able to schedule their wedding make up trial for just before the shoot which is a great way to test out how it'll look on camera before the big day. Don't forget your nails - a beautiful manicure is the perfect finishing touch, especially if you'd like a close up of the ring on your hand!
